Day One - Lake Mckenzie, Basin Lake, Central Station, Wanggoolba Creek, Pile Valley

Depart Hervey Bay bright and early, with a ferry ride and a 4WD transfer bringing hikers over to the starting point for the K'gari Wilderness Trail. Begin the adventure with a 3km walk to the stunning silica sands of Lake Mckenzie (Lake Boorangoora). Here you can swim in the turquoise waters, enjoy some morning tea, and soak in the tranquil scenery before the next section of the trail.

Next you'll walk through majestic rainforests as you hike from Basin Lake to Central Station and the Wanggoolba Creek Boardwalk. Have a picnic lunch before trekking over to Pile Valley. Learn about the area's history, flora, and fauna from your guide before getting a 4WD transfer to your accommodation on K’gari’s Eastern Beach. Spend the evening strolling on the beach, watching the sunset, or stargazing before hitting your pillow to get a good night's sleep!

Day Two - Lake Garrawongera, Valley of the Giants, Giant Tallowwood

Wake up to the pristine sunrise on K'gari and prepare for another gorgeous day of hiking! After breakfast, you'll stroll along the scenic 75 Mile Beach before getting a lift from Happy Valley over to the trailhead of the K'gari Great Walk. Hike 4km through the forest to Lake Garawongera (tea tree) lake, where you can go for a refreshing swim without any crowds and have a picnic lunch.

Next, the 4WD will take the group along an old tram track through the rainforest to an ancient area of K’gari where no other tours go! Here is the stunning Valley of the Giants, where ancient trees create a mystical canopy over the trails. Hike 5km through the valley and learn about the area from your guide. Enjoy some afternoon tea, stop at the island's famous Giant Tallowwood Tree, and then head back to Kingfisher Resort where you can grab a drink while you wait for the ferry back to the mainland. You may even be lucky enough to catch a beautiful sunset on your ferry ride back to the mainland!
