Overview
Ways you can spend your e-Gift Travel Voucher:
Visit Lake McKenzie
Lake McKenzie is one of K'gari's highlights. The crystal clear, turquoise lake is not only known for its beauty, but is a hotspot for visitors to cool off during summer months. Located in the heart of the island, the lake purely consists of rainwater and has no springs or other water sources connected to it. An interesting fact about the lake is that you won't find any fish or weeds flourishing about. The lake has high acidity levels that discourage plants coming to life, preventing fish from moving in. However, it does make for a calm place for swimming!

Float down Eli Creek
Eli Creek is the most popular creek on the island. The freshwater creek runs through the rainforest and sand dunes, streaming out onto 75 Mile Beach. As the creek is long in length, it is the perfect place to grab something that floats, kick back and let the water carry you along. A fun fact about the creek is that it pours 80 MILLION litres of freshwater into the ocean a day! You can also drink the water - it's that fresh and pure!

Cruise along 75 Mile Beach
75 Mile Beach runs along the island's west coast (the length of the island) is the ultimate sand highway. For those keen adventurers, driving along the sand with the ocean on one side and the rainforest on the other is an absolute dream. As the sand conditions can change due to tides, rain and winds, it's only suitable for 4WD vehicles. Although the "highway" doesn't have road dividing lines, it still maintains Queensland road rules and laws. However, despite the rules it is said to be one of the most fun places for 4WD in the world.

Learn about the Maheno Shipwreck
Maheno Shipwreck resides on the shores of 75 Mile Beach and is definitely worth checking out. The ship was a 400ft luxury passenger ship that suffered a tragic fate in 1935. During a journey from Melbourne to Japan, she was hit by a cyclone off Australia's east coast and eventually washed up on K'gari's shores, where she remains today. Thankfully none of the passengers on board were injured.
