Fraser Island Accommodation
Fraser Island has several resort style and motel style accommodation on the island, as well as several campsites that are available for use all year round. Popular resorts on the island include Eurong Beach Resort on the eastern side of the island and Kingfisher Bay Resort on the western side of the island. Both resorts can be independently booked if you are travelling to the island on your own, but are often used in guided and tag-along tours. There are also many campsites around the island which, again, are often used with camping tours, or can be pre-booked by independent drivers.
Many guests visiting the island book their tours based on what type of accommodation they would like to have, as well as what type of tour they would prefer, being tag-along or guided tours.
Camping tours are great if you want to have an immersed Fraser Island experience. Spending the night in the sand dunes, listening to the ocean and the animals around you is an experience unlike any other. Different tour companies have purpose built campsites all around the island that will offer everything you will need for your island excursion.
Resort accommodation is a great option if you want a little more comfort while travelling on the island. There are often a variety of rooms available, from dorm style, 1 bedrooms and even apartment style accommodation on some tours. This is a good option if you're travelling in a larger group, as most tents on camping tours only fit 2 people. Resort options offer a bit more flexibility with space. They also often have shops, restaurants and pools for extra comfort!
Guests also need to consider where they will stay before and after their trip on Fraser Island. Tours usually begin very early in the morning and end late in the evening, meaning you will want to have your mainland accommodation booked ahead of time. Depending on which tour you choose, you may find yourself staying at either Noosa, Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach. Some tours also offer your mainland accommodation to be included with your island tour.
