Day 1: Head to K'gari and take a walk to McKenzie's Jetty

Walking distance: Around 6 - 7km

Walking time: 2 - 3 hours

Your dreamy hiking experience will begin at the K'gari Walking Tours office in Hervey Bay. Make your own way there or opt for a complimentary pick-up! Once you've met your guides and your fellow walkers, head over to the ferry port and cruise over to K'gari. Keep your eyes out for dolphins, dugongs, sea turtles, and, from July to October, humpback whales!

Once you're on the island, you'll get right to it with a short, scenic walk to a stunning lookout point and get a feel for the beauty of K'gari. Then, it'll be time to head to your accommodation where you'll be treated to some delicious lunch and refreshments. When you're satisfied and full of energy, embark on a brief 4WD transfer to the historical site of McKenzie's Jetty, which will be the start point for a gentle 6km walk through the rainforest and the beach as the sun begins to set.

When you return to your accommodation, you and your fellow walkers will get to enjoy some tasty nibbles and a well-deserved glass of wine before indulging in a fabulous dinner on the veranda and heading to bed for a restful night's sleep.

Day 2: Explore Lake Garawongera and the Valley of the Giants

Walking distance: 10 - 12km

Walking time: 6 hours

Driving distance: 30 - 40km

After a restful night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, enjoy a private 4WD transfer to Lake Garawongera and the Valley of the Giants. This is where today's walk begins. Keep a keen eye out for the native flora and fauna as you trek through the lush, green rainforest. At Lake Garawongera, a tea-tree-infused lake, indulge in a refreshing swim before tucking into a lunch provided by your guide. Plus, there'll be plenty of time to stroll through the mesmerising Valley of the Giants, where the island's oldest and largest trees tower overhead! 

Once your afternoon adventure has come to an end, head back to your accommodation to unwind over a drink and a gourmet dinner.

Day 3: Lake Boomanjin and Lake Benaroon

Walking distance: Around 15km

Walking time: 6 hours

Driving distance: 30km

Kick off day 3 with a scenic drive along the Eastern Beach to Dilli Village, then follow the boardwalk through the creek, the woodland, and the open forests until you reach Wongi Sandblow viewpoint. Continue through the eucalypt forest to Lake Boomanjin where your guide will prepare lunch while you enjoy a dip in the refreshing water.

Once you've finished lunch, take a stroll along the beach and follow the trail through the sandy dunes, rainforest, and woodlands until you reach Lake Benaroon.  Afterwards, your guide will take you back to your accommodation. Indulge in wine and cheese, reflect on the day's adventures and unwind over a gourmet dinner.

Day 4: Visit Lake McKenzie, Basin Lake, and Central Station

Walking distance: 10km

Walking time: 3.5 - 5 hours

Driving distance: 20km

The final day of your tour will begin with a tasty breakfast and a trip to the enchanting Lake McKenzie, famous for its crystal clear waters and white sandy beach. Take a refreshing swim before setting off on a circuit walk through the blackbutt forests to Basin Lake. Continuing through the forests, eventually your hike will take you to Central Station, where lunch will be served. 

After a bite to eat, there will be time to explore the Central Station area. Walk along the boardwalk bridge that looks over the pristine Wanggoolba Creek, then continue on to Pile Valley's ancient rainforest. From here, your guide will take you back to Kingfisher Bay for a refreshing drink before you get ready to say goodbye to K'gari and take the barge back to Hervey Bay.

Important Information:

  • This tour is suitable for experienced hikers with a good fitness level
  • This tour runs during hiking season (from March to October)
  • Please wear good quality hiking shoes with support
  • Terrain includes a mix of forest and bush tracks
  • Due to a lack of phone signal and different hiking terrains, hikers are not allowed to walk solo and must stay with the group.
  • Please note that the provided itinerary and times are approximate and serve as a general guide. They are subject to change based on group dynamics, walking pace, and track access.

Your Responsibilities:

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Fraser Tours / Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 


Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.


Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances. 


Merchant Fees:

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.


Open Date Vouchers / Gift Certificate:

Shipping Costs are in addition to the ticket price and will be added at check-out. Shipping costs are non-refundable and do not makeup part of the ticket value. 

E-Vouchers incur no shipping fees.

You have 5 years to use the value of the voucher. Seasonal Price Rises will apply if travelling out the current seasons pricing. Vouchers can be exchanged for free up to the full value of the voucher excluding credit card fees and charges.

Cancellations

Client Cancellations:

All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. No cancellations, refunds, or date changes within 7 days of departure date. No shows or client cancellations made within 7 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price.

Open dated vouchers must book a minimum of 2 weeks prior to departure. 

Transfers between tours can be made at the suppliers discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to admin@mr-travel.com. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.


Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store.


Refunds:

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Fraser Tours/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.


Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based off of feedback from other Service Operators.

Fraser Tours/Mr Travel will treat this as any normal client cancellation and therefore the cancellation fees stated in the Client Cancellation Policy will apply.

There is an age limit of 12 years for this walk. Walkers under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

There is no upper age limit for walkers with suitable ability. Walkers with medical conditions should consult with an agent before booking.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Ideally, you should book this tour at least 14 days in advance. However, sometimes last-minute bookings can be taken subject to availability.
