How long is the trip?
It's up to you! When you purchase this package, you receive two tours at a discounted rate. Our friendly travel agents will then book you into your preferred dates for both your Whitsunday sailing trip (3-days, 2-nights) and your K'gari 4WD camping trip (3-days, 2-nights). Please note that dates are subject to availability.
We recommend giving yourself two weeks for the whole trip, including travel time between the Sunshine Coast and Airlie Beach, with plenty of time to discover Noosa, Rainbow Beach and Airlie Beach along the way! Check out our East Coast itineraries or chat with our travel agents to organise the rest of your tours, transport and accommodation!
Which tour is first, the Whitsunday sail or K'gari tour?
This package is super flexible, so you can choose! Whether you start with your Whitsunday sailing trip and finish with your K'gari tour, or vice versa, these tours can work around your schedule.
How long is the journey between Airlie Beach and K'gari (Fraser Island)?
The journey between Rainbow Beach (the gateway to K'gari) and Airlie Beach (the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands) is an 11-hour drive (without stops). The Greyhound Bus from Rainbow Beach to Airlie Beach takes between 14.5 to 16.5 hours.
We recommend giving yourself two weeks for this package, allowing plenty of time to explore the East Coast of Australia!
Is transport included?
Transport is not included in the standard package. However, a Greyhound Whimit Bus Pass or campervan, are popular add-ons and we can offer you a discounted rate if you need a hand getting from A to B! Opt for the package + Whimit Bus Pass option at checkout, or live chat with our travel agents to make the travel part a breeze!
Is accommodation included?
In total, this package includes 4 nights of accommodation. You will spend 2 nights aboard Solway Voyager in a comfortable shared cabin, and 2 nights in a deluxe, beachside campsite on K'gari with hot showers and modern toilets (tents and gear sorted).
Accommodation between K'gari and Airlie Beach isn't included, however, our travel agents can book premium hostels for you along the East Coast. Just enquire with our travel agents in the live chat about discount deals... we'll sort your trip out seamlessly!
Can I do the tours back-to-back?
Due to the 11-hour journey between Airlie Beach and Rainbow Beach, we recommend giving yourself at least one or two days between the end of your first tour and the beginning of your second.
How many other people will be on the tours?
Your backpacker trips are an awesome balance of social, but intimate, with smaller-than-usual groups. Your Whitsunday sail on Solway Voyager has a maximum capacity of 32 passengers. Your K'gari 4WD camping trip has a maximum capacity of 34 travellers.
Will I make friends on my trip?
Both of these tours are social, backpacker-style trips. Naturally, this attracts young, fun and social travellers, making it super cruisy and easy to make friends! We recommend this package for solo travellers, small groups and friends/couples alike.
What meals are provided?
Your two tours are inclusive and catered for. In total, you will receive 4 breakfasts, 6 lunches and 4 dinners.
Can my dietary requirements or allergies be accommodated?
Common dietary requirements like vegetarian and gluten-free can be catered for upon request. If you have dietary requirements, please let our travel agents know ASAP so they can confirm and arrange for any changes.
Can I bring my kids along?
Unfortunately, this package isn't suitable for children. This is a backpacker-style trip designed for travellers aged between 18 and 35. If you're a young-at-heart adventurer, this social package is perfect!
