Types of Fraser Island Trips
No matter if you are wanting to embark on a day tour, a 2 day or a 3 day trip on Fraser Island, there is something for everyone wanting to travel the beautiful island that is located off the east coast of Queensland, Australia. There are many to choose from and sometimes determining the difference between each can be a challenge. Below, we explain the three main types of trips you will encounter when booking your Fraser Island experience.
Day Tours
These are mostly guided day tours onboard a 4-wheel drive coach with up to 20 passengers and takes you around the island hotspots. All have a similar itinerary, commentary, lunch and a courtesy pick-up from your accommodation. They often start early and end late to ensure you can see as much as possible during your day on Fraser Island. Alternatively you can also hire a car and drive on the island yourself.
Guided Tours - 2 or 3 Days
With similar transport to a 1 day trip, these 2 day and 1 night trips also include accommodation and provide more time to see the sights on Fraser Island. The type of accommodation will depend on the price you wish to pay and include camping and resort stays. This kind of tours allows you to sit back and let someone else do the driving as you enjoy the sights!
Tag-Along & Camping OR Tag-Along & Resort
These are an alternative style of trip, where you can drive yourself around the island. Unlike the guided tours, tag-along means you will have the chance to drive your own 4 wheel-drive on the island with a smaller number of passengers in the vehicle. This allows you to drive along the sand highway first hand and get a real feel for Fraser Island, all with the comfort of a local expert leading the caravan so you won't miss a thing. You can choose from camping or resort style accommodation, depending on the type of experience you'd like to have.
