What types of tours are there on Fraser Island?
Fraser Island has two main types of tours: Guided and tag-along. Both types of tours vary in length and have different types of accommodation, depending on which company you go with. You can choose from day tours, 1 night tours, 2 night tours, camping accommodation, resort accommodation and hostel-style accommodation. How you choose to travel depends on your budget and how long you want to stay on the island.
Guided tours:
A guided tour consists of a tour bus that guides you around the island. The 4WD is driven by your tour guide, who will bring you around to different parts of the island. This is ideal if you do not wish to drive, or would just prefer to have a guided tour. It's great for commentary and learning about the island as you are in the same vehicle as your guide the whole time. It's also a great option if you're travelling with a larger group as the 4x4s on the guided tours carry more people. Click here for Fraser Island Guided Tours
Tag-along:
A tag-along tour is made up of many 4WD vehicles that follow a lead vehicle around the island. The front 4x4 will have the guide behind the wheel and then other vehicles, full of guests and driven by guests, following behind. The leader sets the pace and leads the way around the island, guiding you from place to place. This type of tour is great if you want to experience driving on the sand highway for yourself, or would just like to travel in a smaller group. However, you don't have to drive if you choose a tag-along tour! You can also sit as a passenger and let someone else drive. Click here for Fraser Island Tag-along tours
