Yes! Many visitors are surprised to learn that K’gari Island offers a range of small, laid-back bars to enjoy a sunset beverage and a delicious meal. From the Kingfisher Bay Resort on the island’s southwest to the Orchid Beach Trading Post on the island’s northeast, there's a pick of bars to enjoy during your trip!

1.   The Sand Bar & Bistro 

Nestled amongst K’gari’s idyllic wilderness is the Kingfisher Bay Resort, home to four relaxed bars open to the public! The Sand Bar & Bistro is the perfect establishment to enjoy a casual dining experience, take a refreshing dip in the adjacent swimming pools, and keep your kids busy in the gaming arcade. Kick back on the spacious decks and enjoy a beverage and tasty pizza, before strolling back over to the beach!

2.   Sunset Bar 

Unofficially the best beach bar on K’gari, Sunset Bar is located on the island’s west at the iconic Kingfisher Bay! With beach bean bags, umbrellas in the sand, and indulgent deck spaces, Sunset Bar is the ideal venue to sip on a cocktail, laze in the golden rays, and mingle with fellow East Coast travellers. With relaxed coastal tunes and a delicious selection of platters on offer, this is the perfect place to kick back after a day of island fun!

As a plus, the Sunset Bar is the Kingfisher Bay Resort’s main marine hub and a meeting place for several guided tours, so a cheeky beverage is more than convenient!

3.   Orchid Beach Trading Post and Driftwood Bar

Now, let’s cruise to K’gari’s sandy eastern stretches - Orchid Beach! Running for 14.5km, Orchid Beach is a shining mecca for beach fishing and boating adventures. After a day of salty thrill, head to the Orchid Beach Trading Post and Driftwood Bar for a relaxed Aussie pub experience. A family-run locals favourite, the Driftwood Bar offers a laid-back atmosphere, beach views, and (unofficially) the island’s coldest beers on tap.

Order a pub lunch and relax with your mates at the perfect venue for anyone passing through Orchid Beach!

4.   Maheno Bar

For visitors searching for an indulgent poolside cocktail or ambient nightcap, Kingfisher Bay Resort’s freshly renovated Maheno Bar is made for you! Enjoy an extensive beverage and bar bites menu, with Byron Bay Brewery, James Squire One Fifty Lashes, Little Creatures, Canadian Club and James Squire Ginger Beer all offered. With a sleek high-top bar and booth seating, Maheno is the perfect resort escape!

Maheno Bar is open daily until 9 pm.

5.   Satinay Bar & Bistro

Located within the Fraser Island Retreat along the island’s east coast, Satinay is a casual bar and bistro venue that cannot be missed! A short drive from the popular Eli Creek and Maheno Shipwreck, Satinay’s large timber deck is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Sit back and enjoy pristine greenery and extensive panoramic views, it doesn’t get much better!

6.   McKenzie’s on 75

K’gari Beach Resort (previously Eurong Resort) agrees that there’s nothing better than a cold bevvie after a day of exploring and four-wheel driving on K’gari! McKenzie’s on 75 is a great place to chill out with a beer in hand, enjoy an afternoon by the pool, or have a game of pool.

Featuring a hearty menu of burgers, salads, and pizzas, McKenzie’s on 75 is the ultimate no-frills venue to grab a bite to eat and make some new mates!
