The nicest resort on the island is Kingfisher Bay Resort, a sprawling complex on the western shore that is home to multiple restaurants and bars as well as a pool, spa, and a variety of hotel rooms and villas available.

The second-best resort is K'gari Beach Resort, located on 75 Mile Beach. Here you can stay in classic hotel rooms as well as self-contained apartments and make use of the pool, bakery, restaurant, and shop. Other notable resorts on the island include Fraser Island Retreat in Happy Valley and Sailfish on Fraser, also on the Eastern Beach.

Lodges, Cabins, and Glamping on K'gari (Fraser Island)

If you want something a little more rugged than a standard hotel room at a resort, K'gari (Fraser Island) is home to lots of small businesses that rent out private cabins, apartments on the beach, lodges, or glamping tents. Camping on K'gari (Fraser Island)


Camping is the best way to immerse yourself in the lush wilderness on K'gari (Fraser Island). Adventure lovers may consider a campground to be the best place to stay on the island! There are two types of campsites on K'gari (Fraser Island). The first is managed campgrounds. These are maintained by the National Parks Service and they usually have facilities like toilets, showers, rubbish bins, picnic tables, and dingo fences. Central Station, Waddy Point, and Dundubara are among these regulated campgrounds.

The other campgrounds on the island are free camping zones. These are designated areas where you're allowed to set up camp but there are no facilities. Between the 9 camping zones on the Eastern Beach, 7 on the Western Beach, and other inland free camping sites amidst the forest, there are plenty of places to spend the night bonding with nature. Just remember to bring all the necessary supplies and clean up after yourself at the unregulated campsites in order to keep the island clean! And you still have to get a camping permit and register your campsite online if you're staying at a free camping zone.
