K'gari 4WDing Rules
With a vast amount of fun comes great responsibility, and there are a couple of really important rules when it comes to 4WDing on K'gari. Read more about driving safely on K'gari with our road rule guide and our 20 top tips for 4WDing.
- Please do not drive on K'gari beaches near headlands at high tide. To avoid risky situations like this, plan your drive as close to low tide as possible. The tide cycle gives you about 4 hours of time to drive along the beach at a safe, low tide, so don't get lost in the island rainforests for too long if you need to get back somewhere!
- Any experienced 4WDer will tell you to avoid driving on the super soft sand above the tide line - it's really difficult! Don't burn out your clutch or engine, or get bogged! Instead, stay away from exposed areas 2 hours before and after high tide!
