Swim In Lake McKenzie

Probably one of the most stunning places in all of Australia, Lake McKenzie is a must-see on K'gari (Fraser Island). Treat Yourself To A Nice Dinner

Despite being such a remote island where the wilderness flourishes, there are some lovely places to eat on K'gari! At Eurong Resort and Kingfisher Bay Resort, the island's two biggest and most impressive accommodation options, there are excellent dining options where you can have a nice dinner with your partner. Or if you're exploring the north of K'gari, the Driftwood Bar in Orchid Beach has delicious food as well!

Hike To Lake Wabby

Another one of K'gari's most amazing lakes is Lake Wabby. To get to this massive, emerald-green lake you have to complete a leisurely hike through the rainforest. The walk itself is beautiful, and you and your partner can chat and enjoy the sounds of nature as you walk along the sandy track. Before you go for a dip in the lake, be sure to continue strolling along the Hammerstone Sand Blow and soak in the surreal, desert-like views.

Watch The Sunrise

Have a nice romantic morning by watching the sunrise over the stunning K'gari coastline! With nothing but the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean in sight from the island's east coast, there are some amazing sunrise spots where you can watch the world drift from night to morning. Indian Head Lookout is a rocky headland that is great for watching the sunrise. Or anywhere along the iconic 75 Mile Beach, you can easily find a nice sandy spot all to yourselves.

Float Down Eli Creek

Another one of the best things to do for couples on K'gari is visit the peaceful and beautiful Eli Creek. This freshwater creek runs through the sand dunes and empties into the ocean on K'gari's east coast. The water here is so clean and pure that you can fill your water bottles right from the creek! Pack some floaties for your couple's trip to K'gari so you can drift down the river and let the current carry you past the lush rainforest. There is also a picnic area and boardwalk here so you can have a romantic lunch or stroll.

The Best Ways To Visit K'gari As A Couple

Once you've decided to plan a romantic getaway to K'gari, you may be wondering what is the best way to execute this plan. You can only visit K'gari with a 4WD, whether you hire one, use your own, or book a tour is up to you! If you already have your own 4WD, you can easily just hop over to the island at your convenience. Just remember to book all the necessary permits and ferry transfers. If you don't have a 4WD and you want to explore just the two of you, you'll need to hire one!

The other option is a guided tour. Though you won't have the same kind of alone time on a group tour, this is a great option for travelers who want to save money and have fun meeting others. Tag-along tours and guided resort tours are all-inclusive, making them more affordable than hiring a 4WD for just two people. If you love socializing, you'll also have a blast exploring with other travelers. But if you want a private getaway without anyone else, your best bet is hiring a 4WD!
